I have written "Game Over" because there is currently no "next step" to this process at the moment.

My father and I followed this trial in real time and watched every possible thing pertaining to this case and by the end of the trial we were convinced that he was very likely not responsible for this murder. There were WAY too many holes in the prosecution’s case and we were sure he would be Acquitted but to our horror he was convicted. So frightening.

I am another like minded person who believes Mr Westerfield is innocent. I’ve been sick about this ever since the verdict was read I’ve never seen someone sentenced to death without anything linking him to murder —- or kidnapping. —- or peeping with binoculars —- or a fetish with little girls teeth. I am so sorry Westerfield has had to suffer like he is for such a long time.

I’ve been heartsick for this man for almost 20 years. I too followed this case closely when it happened and have always felt that this was a bogus conviction. People do not just suddenly murder little girls after 40 plus years of exemplary living. He was a convenient suspect.

Is there any way to watch the trial again? Is the video uploaded anywhere? I’d really like to watch it. Thanks.

Lisa, the only "video" I know of is the online one of the final argument. Otherwise, the case took weeks and weeks- I don't remember how many weeks - and the word would be "videos," hours and hours of them. In real time. It is possible that the local newspaper or one of the TV stations has such a thing. I don't know. Maybe one of the attorneys had a copy, I don't know. Or maybe a law school somewhere. Bottom line: I don't know.

Wow, that’s weird since it was televised on Court TV. You’d think it would be available somewhere. A death penalty trial is a matter of public interest, and it shouldn’t be kept secret. Maybe if you try contacting Court TV they will include the trial on their website if there’s enough interest. I will contact them myself.

Have you read “Rush to Judgement”? I am intrigued, but the reviews aren’t very glowing, which is holding me back from purchasing. It’s apparently not written that well and lacks editing. What are your thoughts?

Sorry this reply is very late; I just now noticed it. You have sort of answered your own question here, in a way. The Rush to Judgement book is the most highly detailed record of the trial and all that went before it and into it. It is not a transcript or a video, but is the best thing on (internet) public record that I know of. Highly recommended - if you really want to know all the details, in GREAT detail, which is why somebody called it "uneduted." Go for it.

(1) Sorry, meant "unedited." And RTJ is in my opinion, very well written.

(3) To clarify what I meant by "public record" in the post above. I did not mean that the RTJ book is on the internet; you have to purchase it (e.g. Amazon). I meant that you can access all this public domain information and news etc. by going online, rather than to the San Diego county courthouse, which is also "public," but in a very different way.. Welcome to Westerfield newsMy hero, Henry David Thoreau, tried to stay in the woods. One nasty social issue brought him out. Same thing happened to me. I am attempting to be a properly retired person, but the injustice of this wrongful conviction reminds me too much of the egregious Sam Sheppard case of 1954-1966. (I lived in Ohio then.) I am looking for a few like-minded people to join in discussing the current issues in a rational manner. -- Kayle Brooks Older Posts
